This iconic image of the New River Gorge at sunrise was made at the Grandview Overlook near Beckley, West Virginia, on a very cool October morning. The wispy clouds on the far slope provided a nice counterpoint to the stunning golden sunlight illuminating the gorgeous fall foliage in the foreground as well as the mountain slopes in the middle ground. In less than five minutes it was over. I feel truly blessed to have witnessed this glorious scene.
